Paisley Lagoon Leisure Centre

The Lagoon Leisure Centre is the flagship centre of Renfrewshire Leisure and caters for activities such as swimming, fitness, aerobics, various sporting activities and events.

Paisley Library

Paisley Central Library is moving to a temporary home in the town centre – ahead of a new state-of-the-art facility opening on the High Street. The library has had to leave its current home next to Paisley Museum when the building closes for a £42m revamp to turn the museum into an international-class destination.

Library provision will move to a new learning and cultural hub at 22 High Street by 2021, with a temporary library to be built next to the Lagoon leisure centre and due to open in January 2019.

The modular building will take over part of the facility’s south car park – currently used by council staff – and will house the most popular books and services, plus some public access PCs.

Paisley Town Hall

The Town Hall has become the social heart of Paisley since opening in January 1882, hosting meetings, tea dances, social gatherings, conferences, events, festivals and concerts. The historic venue gave Paolo Nutini his big break, hosted some of Gerry Rafferty’s earliest shows and provided the setting for Cuttin’ A Rug, John Byrne’s follow-up to The Slab Boys. Construction on the iconic building, which was originally designed by Belfast architect W H Lynn, began in 1879 after George A. Clark, a member of Paisley’s famous thread family, left £20,000 for its creation in his will. A statue commemorating Clark and his contribution to Paisley now stands outside the historic venue.

The town hall is currently closed for a £22million refurbishment to transform the facility, creating a social hub, conference and events venue fit for the 21st Century.

The Wynd Centre

The Wynd Centre is one of the main outreach arms of the now united congregation of Oakshaw Trinity Church. Initially, the centre provided a counselling service with five counsellors and a coffee shop. Today, and after a £2.7million refurbishment of the former St. John’s Church and halls, the centre has grown to provide a variety of services and facilities to many of Paisley and Renfrewshire’s mutual aid and self-help groups.

Within the Centre you will find various types of suitable accommodation for let, such as the 230 seat auditorium, halls and meeting rooms that will suit just about any requirement, with the option to provide your function/meeting with teas
