Paisley First Renewal Ballot 2019

Paisley First is the Business Improvement District (BID) for Paisley town centre.

As with all BIDs throughout the UK, the maximum period that a business improvement district can operate is five years. If the BID wishes to continue its activities, it must hold a new ballot.

For more than four years, Paisley First has delivered a number of successful initiatives within Paisley town centre on behalf of the local business community.

Thanks to those businesses who completed our BID Members Survey earlier this year, our Business Plan for 2020 – 2025 has now been developed and issued, along with renewal ballot papers.

The BID renewal ballot is a confidential postal ballot.

As the relevant local authority, Renfrewshire Council has agreed to instruct Electoral Reform Services (ERS) to independently manage the BID renewal ballot. ERS is the UK’s leading provider of independent election and balloting services.

Voting papers will be issued to each eligible person, i.e. the person liable to pay the BID levy or a specifically nominated person from each business. The eligible person from each business or property simply needs to tick ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ to a single question asking whether they are in favour of the Business Improvement District proposals.

BID Members will be able to cast their vote anytime within a six-week period from 12th September until 5pm on 24th October 2019.
